Forgiveness

The Bible has some wonderful things to say about just how thorough God’s forgiveness really is. Here are a few of those truths.

“As far as the east is from the west (now stop and think about how far that is), so far has He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103.12).

“It is You who has kept my soul from the pit of nothingness, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back” (Isaiah 38.17).

“I, even I, am the one who wipes out your trangressions for My own sake, and I will not remember your sins” (Isaiah 43.25).

“He will tread our iniquities under foot. Yes, You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea” (Micah 7.19).

So when God says we are forgiven, He means it. And what we must do is ask for it. When you do that, His forgiveness is instant and so thoroughly complete that our minds have trouble believing it. I mean we don’t forgive that way, so why would God? That is one reason we struggle with forgiveness. The key is to believe God and what He has said. Our forgiveness is based on Him, and not how we feel. Our feelings are too easily manipulated by our enemy!

To forgive ourselves is to agree with God that we are forgiven. To accept His forgiveness, yet condemn ourselves is to remain in pride.
